5. Research areas:
Modern Art
On its various streams.
Special focus on modern movements that emerged from the mid-19th century to the mid-twentieth century. This specialization was shaped by his doctoral dissertation, which addressed the roots of the Expressionist movement, and its various developments in the first decades of the twentieth century.
Also, the preoccupation with Nietzsche's thought must deepen his understanding of the European cultural space of this period. My work at the Tel Aviv Museum as a lecturer and researcher of modern art also deepened my educational infrastructure in this field.
Post Modern Art
A special focus on Israeli architecture and art created in this style.
Israeli Art
For its various expressions and currents over the course of a century, it was formed with extensive reference to contemporary Israeli art.
Special focus on the dialogue between Israeli art and international sources of influence, while trying to explore and understand the dynamics that exist between center and province.
Research between the fields of art and literature:
In courses that discuss the various artistic styles, the literary parallels are also examined - while understanding the meanings derived from such a comparative discussion.
Art and history:
Addressing the question of the relevance of the work of art that discusses historical events, as a source that aids in the study of history. The debate on the subject relies on the debate between Aristotle and Plato regarding the power of artists on the one hand and historians on the other to document reality, as well as on the enormous presence of historical materials in twentieth-century cinema.
Philosophy:
If necessary, students are exposed to a discussion of the different styles through the “Philosophical Toolbox”. This type of discussion seeks to thicken the visual stylistic distinctions in a conceptual infrastructure.
Art and philosophy. This comparative dimension, reflected my specializations in a number of disciplines. Some of the content I presented at these conferences was transferred to publication - this can be seen in the list of publications in section 9. Some of the materials expressed at these conferences were transcribed as part of my doctoral dissertation. The list of major conferences I
have attended can be seen in Section 8.
